What are Dental Implants?
The procedure involves surgically setting a small titanium screw into the jawbone. Once the screw has integrated into the surrounding bone, it acts as the root for the new tooth. A porcelain or ceramic tooth is fitted to an abutment on the screw. Once the new tooth has been placed, it should be virtually indistinguishable from the surrounding teeth.
Besides replacing single teeth, implants can also be used to provide support for bridgework or for dentures.
