What are veneers?
Dental veneers are thin shells used to cover the front surface of your teeth. Usually they are made of porcelain, although some types may also be made of composite resin. They may be used to improve the appearance of a tooth, as well as to protect and strengthen it. The type of veneer chosen will depend on the individual’s dental needs, as there are several types of veneers available.
Porcelain veneers
The most common type of veneer is the porcelain veneer, which is very aesthetically pleasing. It is also an incredibly durable type of veneer available. So what are these classic veneers made from? Porcelain veneers are made from a thin sheet of porcelain which is bonded to the front of the tooth. What can porcelain veneers help to correct? They can be used to correct a range of cosmetic issues, such as discolouration, chips, and gaps. In addition, they can also be used to protect teeth from further damage.
Composite resin veneers
Porcelain veneers are certainly not the only option offered by your dentist Lalor. Composite resin veneers are the most affordable type of veneer available and are ideal for people who want an immediate smile makeover. They are made from tooth-coloured composite material which is applied directly to the surface of the tooth. Composite veneers can be used to address a range of cosmetic issues, such as chips, gaps, and discolouration.
Crowns
For those who are looking for a more permanent solution, there is the option of dental crowns. Crowns are made from porcelain or metal and are used to cap the entire tooth. They are used to restore the teeth to their original shape and size, as well as to protect them from further damage. Crowns are an ideal solution for people who have suffered extensive damage to their teeth, and for those who want a more permanent solution.
