emergency-dentistry

There are very few people in this world who like an emergency.

And when it comes to emergency dental care, there are even fewer people who like to be on the receiving end of this particular situation!

Associated with discomfort, sleepless nights and feeling ill, dental emergencies can be extremely destabilising and can also cause extensive amounts of disruption to your sleep and work. So, it is important to know what exactly constitutes a dental emergency so you can nip it in the bud before it gets more serious.

At Epping High Dental we are proud to be able to offer an emergency dentist Lalor so you can get your day back on track and resolve any discomfort as soon as possible. Nobody likes toothache!

But what are some of the symptoms that show you may have a dental emergency and need a same-day appointment with our dentist Lalor? Read on to find out.

Discomfort

We mentioned this earlier, but it is a key symptom of a dental emergency; discomfort.

If you have a toothache that is driving you to distraction, preventing you from sleeping or eating, then you need to book a same-day appointment with our dentist Lalor.

Swelling

Swelling to the face, under the chin or any part of the mouth will need to be seen by our team during a same-day appointment.

Even if there is no swelling to the facial area but it is located inside the mouth to start with, it can quickly cause issues with eating and breathing. It is usually one of the first signs of more complicated problems such as a dental abscess or an impacted tooth, both of which will require urgent intervention to stop them becoming more dangerous. So if you have swelling on your face or anywhere in your mouth, come and see our team promptly.

Ulcers

Most people get ulcers on their lips, their inner cheeks or the gums when they are either ill or stressed

And for most people, these swellings usually go away on their own. But if you have recurrent ulcers in the same part of the mouth, or one of your ulcers has grown to a concerning extent then you need to see our team as this can be an indicator of oral cancer.

Lost restoratives

When you have a filling or a crown, it is an annoyance when the restorative comes loose or falls out altogether.

And if the tooth did not have a root canal, the loss of the restorative will likely be exceedingly uncomfortable as the nerve of the tooth is now exposed to the air. But even if it is not painful, you will need to see our team for an emergency appointment to have the restorative replaced to prevent decay from setting in, or further discomfort and the potential cracking of the tooth.

Damaged teeth

Many people have experienced a cracked tooth, usually due to sports or trauma.

But if you notice a crack in your enamel, then you need to see our team for an urgent appointment to prevent bacteria from getting underneath the enamel and causing decay or even abscesses to form.
